I have taught Pilates for over twenty years, on three continents and in different languages — always in search of the same thing: how to make the body work correctly.

Movement specialist

I have been involved in body work ever since my introduction to ballet at the age of four, studying classical ballet throughout my school years. It was through my ballet teacher — the highly esteemed Jennifer Paynter (RAD examiner and teacher trainer) — that I was introduced to the Pilates method as an adult.

An interest in body mechanics, anatomy and the search for how to make the body work correctly sparked an ongoing study of the human body: training in the Body Control Pilates method, followed by full instructor certification through Pilates Conditioning (PTAF, South Africa) and STOTT Pilates (Canada). I also hold a Master’s Degree in Music (cum laude, Stellenbosch University), in which I researched the benefits of the Pilates method for classical singers.

I teach matwork, equipment and barre, as well as remedial classes and workshops for musicians, dancers and performing artists. My passion for uncovering each student’s potential is what makes teaching rewarding — and drives my continuous search for new ways of doing and understanding.

Along the way I have studied other somatic modalities — Yoga, Reiki, the Franklin Method, fascial integration work, Pranayama and meditation — combining what I have learnt into classes with a different focus for each student.
